Tim’s Market Notes:

This week’s posting is short and sweet. I’m writing from the balcony of my 7th floor suite at the Ritz Carlton in Cancun. I was supposed to go to Florida for a badly needed vacation and after 2 failed attempts at getting off the runway, the pilot admitted the throttle was stuck and that he was going to heard all the cattle onto a different plane. That killed that trip. The next best option was a search for the swine flu. So far, I have not been able to meet anybody, including dozens of locals, who know anybody that has or had the swine flu. I’m meeting with the ministry of travel later this morning and promise a full report in next week’s market report. Suffice to say, Cancun is 90% vacant. It is very eerie. The JW Marriot has NO guests. The beaches are empty and at dinner the other night, my wife and I were the only guests, all night!

If you want a real low-cost trip, now is a good time to go to Cancun. It is safe; there is no flu; there are no bad-guys kidnapping anybody. The sun is shining; the water is warm; the people are inviting. Everything you have read and heard seem to be some kind of distortion of the real situation down-here.

Have a great week!
